These are particle-filtering respirator classifications under different standards. FFP2 and FFP3 follow the European EN 149 standard, with minimum filtration efficiencies of 94% and 99%. N95 follows the US NIOSH system, while KN95 follows the Chinese GB 2626 standard; both require at least 95% filtration under their respective tests. These percentages describe laboratory filtration performance, not guaranteed protection for every task. Correct fit and workplace hazards also matter.

Choose according to the contaminants, exposure level, required protection, and fit. Disposable particle respirators may be suitable for certain particle hazards. Reusable half face respirators accept compatible filters or cartridges. Full face respirators also cover the eyes. Daily use or the presence of chemicals alone does not determine which type is suitable.

A covers certain organic gases and vapors with boiling points above 65°C. B covers certain inorganic gases and vapors, excluding carbon monoxide. E covers certain acid gases, and K covers ammonia and certain derivatives. ABEK combines these categories. The number 1 indicates the gas filter’s capacity class, not a filtration percentage. P2 and P3 are particle filter classes, with P3 having higher filtration efficiency. Always check the specific filter’s approved uses.

Replace particulate filters when damaged, dirty, or difficult to breathe through, and follow manufacturer instructions. Gas and vapor cartridges require a replacement schedule based on exposure conditions. Do not wait for a smell to replace them. If you detect a contaminant’s smell, taste, or irritation during use, leave the contaminated area immediately and have the respirator system checked before returning.

فلاتر الجسيمات تتغيّر عند التلف أو الاتساخ أو زيادة صعوبة التنفس، مع اتباع تعليمات المصنع. خراطيش الغازات والأبخرة تحتاج إلى جدول استبدال حسب ظروف التعرّض؛ متستناش ظهور ريحة علشان تغيّرها. لو حسيت بريحة الملوث أو طعمه أو تهيّج أثناء الاستخدام، اخرج فورًا لمكان غير ملوث، وراجع نظام الحماية قبل الرجوع للعمل.

A regular medical mask is not a substitute for an occupational respirator. FFP2 is a particle filtration classification and does not provide gas or vapour protection. Those hazards require a suitable respirator with cartridges approved for the specific substances and exposure conditions.

Remove the filters and clean the facepiece using the method and cleaning products specified by the manufacturer. Let it dry completely before storage. Store it in a clean, dry place away from sunlight and contaminants. Follow the separate storage instructions for filters and cartridges; do not wash or soak their filtering media.
