Earmuffs are easier to put on and take off, and suit you if you wear them on and off often or work in a workshop or on site. Earplugs are lighter and more comfortable in the heat and with helmets and glasses, and suit long hours of use. In very loud areas you can wear both together, but the protection does not fully add up.
الكاتم (Earmuff) أسهل في اللبس والخلع، ومناسب لو بتلبسه وتقلعه كتير أو شغلك في ورشة أو موقع. السدادات أخف وأريح في الحر ومع الخوذة والنضارة، ومناسبة للاستخدام لساعات طويلة. لو الضوضاء عالية جداً ممكن تلبس الاتنين مع بعض، بس الحماية مش بتتجمع بالكامل.
SNR is a number in decibels (dB) showing how much noise the product reduces, according to the EN 352 test. The higher the number, the greater the reduction. Real-world protection is lower than the labeled figure. Avoid over-protection too, as it cuts you off from warnings and equipment around you.

A common reference is about 85 dB over 8 hours. A practical rule: if you have to shout for someone one meter away to hear you, the area is probably above the limit. Louder areas call for a higher SNR. For an exact measurement of your site, consult your safety engineer.
المرجع الشائع هو حوالي 85 ديسيبل لمدة 8 ساعات. قاعدة عملية: لو لازم تصوّت عشان حد يسمعك على بعد متر، فالمكان غالباً فوق الحد. وفي الأماكن الأكتر صخباً بتحتاج SNR أعلى. لو محتاج قياس دقيق لموقعك، الأفضل ترجع لمهندس السلامة عندك.
These are European standards for hearing protectors: EN 352-1 for standard earmuffs, EN 352-2 for earplugs, and EN 352-3 for helmet-mounted earmuffs. A listed standard means the product was tested against it.

Yes, but any part of the glasses frame under the earmuff cushion reduces the seal and therefore the attenuation. If you will wear them together often, choose glasses with thin temples. In high noise, earplugs with glasses are a better fit.
